Steve Gibson
Steve began his engineering career in England as a Marine Engineer with ESSO UK. After being transferred from ships to the Fuel/Lubes division, he gained much of his early experience in hands on engine tear down & rebuild, which was then translated into facility upgrades in the form of test cells utilized for engine testing. He easily translated this experience into a career move that landed him with Ford Motor Company in Dunton UK where he was deeply involved in specifying and upgrading 85 existing test cells in addition to building 16 new test cells. Having worked both with Ford internally and with external vendors to accomplish this task, he built a network that would provide him a path to a new career in the supplier world.
The next chapter landed him in the United States, specifically at AVL Test Systems in Plymouth, MI, where he became a key player in Technical Sales Support specializing in Data Acquisition and Control/Simulation. Among other things was the crowning achievement of being instrumental in the GM Powertrain One Lab Test Facility consolidation in Pontiac, MI. He was also involved in the preliminary design, layout, and specification of 29 GM test cells covering electrification, hybrid, and powertrain development test facilities in Shanghai, China.
